Jeff Braun reports:

A very good day for Tracc 5 and driver Colin Braun. The team ran all 3 karts today on the opening day of practice for the WKA Nationals.

In the Yamaha Jr. Sportsman class Colin was in the top three times of the day. The team worked on gearing and chassis setup trying to chase the quickly changing track. In the HPV Jr. Sportsman class gearing was the focus. Colin was very fast in this class. The times are close for the first three drivers, but Colin has a .2 second edge. The Cadet Jr. Sportsman kart was run only 2 sessions at the end of the day and these were cut short due to a faulty cylinder-head temperature gauge. With only a total of 5 laps Colin is in the top three in this class.

The Jolly kart team also lead the time sheets in 125cc shifter with Niki Coello over .4 seconds faster than the second driver, Mike Coello. Mike was .2 seconds faster than the third driver in the 20 kart field.

Today was cool but sunny. Friday and Saturday look like more of the same, but we may have rain on Sunday. Tracc 5 has 2 races on Sunday. Friday will be a day of chasing the track with chassis setup. As the karts run and put down rubber on the surface, the track picks up grip and the balance changes. There are about 500 karts in this event, so the track can change drastically from session to session.
